Our client, a leader in the biomedical technology sector, aims to improve the quality of life of people with physical disabilities by developing implant technologies for neurodetection and neurostimulation equipped with an artificial intelligence system. Our client is currently looking for a Program Manager.

Nature of position

Working directly under the President and the Chief Operating Officer, you will be in charge of managing all internal projects, including all aspects of research and development, and designing and evaluating production systems. You will also act as a resource person for all department managers, overseeing project timelines and deadlines. In addition, you will be in charge of the strategic plan regulating multiple projects, including working relationships among projects and risk management. Specific tasks include:

• Overseeing all key activities related to development projects;
• Collaborating with different departments in order to set appropriate budgets and to approve and manage the overall program budget;
• Participating in global project planning and managing costs as well as cross-functional operations and project execution;
• Defining and managing a timeline of deliverables essential to program success;
• Assuring consistency in terms of task estimation and resource use by means of standard tools and metrics;
• Supporting department managers in preparing project plans, timelines, and budgets using Microsoft Project and working in collaboration with staff involved to understand tasks necessary to project completion;
• Identifying, understanding, prioritizing and managing the working relationships between different departments and positions and supervising these relationships in order to assure a consistent respect for project deadlines;
• Managing project execution by setting benchmarks for all departments, identifying risks, and defining and executing contingency plans;
• Assuring project quality by means of standard methods and procedures as well using quality management software to prepare and execute project quality plans;
• Providing progress updates in the form of standard reports as well as participating in R&D meetings with the President and the Chief Operating Officer;
• Solving problems associated with projects as they arise in collaboration with departmental managers and other concerned stakeholders
• Collaborating with internal work-groups to share working knowledge of project management procedures and techniques, and acting as a mentor to less experienced project managers;
• Working within established company design control and quality management systems ;
• Contributing to the constant improvement of internals systems, processes and procedures relating to project management.

Required qualification

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or any other relevant discipline);
• Minimum 6 years relevant experience including an in-depth understanding of the specified field and closely-monitored work environments, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience;
• Bilingual (French and English);
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Project;
• Experience with work breakdown structure (WBS), Earned Value and informational metrics as applied to project management;
• Experience in design control and quality management systems;
• A Masters of Engineering in Project Management would be a valuable asset.
