Our client, a major forestry company specialized in wood processing, is currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor for its state-of-the-art plant in the Outaouais region.

Nature of position

Working under the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendant, you will be in charge of managing a team of qualified employees responsible for maintaining the equipment of a defined sector of the plant in a safe and effective manner. Specific tasks include:

• Coordinating and directing preventative and daily maintenance in accordance with established priorities;
• Assuming responsibility for a variety of workshops, production facilities, garages, and tool rooms as well as adjusting and maintaining equipment and machinery;
• Planning jobs, completing purchase orders, and maintaining up-to-date inventory in workshops;
• Working closely with other departments at the plant;
• Overseeing various jobs during scheduled stoppages at the plant;
• Replacing supervisors during absences;
• Encouraging participation from workers under your supervision, thus creating a work climate favorable to meeting objectives by means of open communication, effective delegation of tasks, teamwork, and the recognition of favorable results;
• Creating and optimizing a maintenance plan while encouraging new initiatives.

Required qualification

• College Diploma (DEC/DCS) in Maintenance Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent;
• 3 to 5 years experience supervising employees;
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and automated maintenance management systems;
• Excellent leadership, teamwork, planning, and organizational skills;
• Proven ability to manage many tasks simultaneously and to adapt to changing conditions;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
