Our client, a building contractor specialized in medium and large-scale institutional construction projects, is currently looking for a Building Cost Estimator.
Nature of position
Working directly under the General Manager, you will be in charge of making cost estimates for all projects on which the company decides to submit a bid. Specific tasks include:
- Managing tendering procedures
- Preparing bills of materials using blueprints, drawings and listings;
- Selecting sub-trades;
- Managing addenda;
- Performing quantity takeoffs (architectural, structural and civil engineering);
- Estimating overall construction costs;
- Carrying out site visits;
- Reviewing and finalizing bids.
Required qualification
- College Diploma (DEC/DCS/ACS) in Construction Estimating or other relevant specialization;
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience;
- Knowledge of Quebec Statutes and Regulations for the Construction Industry;
- A proven ability to read plans, drawings and blueprints;
- An excellent working knowledge of IT tools and software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
