Mechanical design engineer

Our client, a company in the technology sector, specializing in human-machine interface solutions and printed electronics technologies, is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the mechanical engineering team leader, your main mandate will be to contribute to the development of projects and to create exceptional product designs in partnership with the design teams. In addition, you will carry out improvement projects, both in terms of current processes and/or products, and carry out technological monitoring, notably by taking part in research and development. As such you will :

  • Actively participate in the definition of project requirements ;
  • Act as a technical expert for clients ;
  • Estimate the time required for the development of each of its deliverables ;
  • Design 3D models, mock-ups or prototypes according to customer requirements while respecting technical requirements ;
  • Explain, inform and train clients on technical issues encountered ;
  • Recommend and convince clients of optimal solutions ;
  • Work with the mechanical team leader and train colleagues on technical aspects ;
  • Test the selected solutions and document the selected solutions and changes ;
  • Adjust his models according to the evolution of the requirements ;
  • Develop mechanical BOMs and establish the generic specifications of the required materials ;
  • Design 2D drawings for customers or subcontractors ;
  • Transfer technical information to manufacturing engineering teams ;
  • Link content with electrical and software teams ;
  • Follow the solution development process (SDP) ;
  • Actively participate in discussions on the evolution of projects ;
  • Collaborate with colleagues and subcontractors to meet customer expectations ;
  • Share knowledge with colleagues ;
  • Support production, as needed, when problems arise ;
  • Carry out every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant training ;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ;
  • Mastery of 3D and 2D modeling software (SolidWorks) and EPDM ;
  • Good knowledge of injection molding and plastic parts ;
  • Good knowledge of dimensional chains and tolerancing analysis ;
  • Good knowledge of French and English, both oral and written ;
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (an asset) ;
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis software and optical simulation (an asset).
