Structural Building Engineer

Our RecruPro division, a company specialized in human resources recruitment, is currently looking to fill a position on behalf of one of its clients. This client is a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm specialized in building engineering (electromechanical and structural) as well as civil engineering. They support a diverse clientele — institutional, governmental, and municipal — through all phases of a project, including surveys, assessments, design and specifications, supervision, and the control of costs and schedules. They are currently seeking a Structural Building Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Head of the Building Department, your mandate will be to actively manage the design of residential, commercial, and institutional projects, both in the public sector (schools, hospitals, office buildings, municipal buildings, pools, and park chalets) and private sector, including asset maintenance (renovations, expansions), and more. In this role, you will:

  • Design and analyze various structures made of steel, concrete, or wood;
  • Supervise the production of plans, and sign and seal them;
  • Produce calculation notes, technical documents, and drawings;

  • Write technical reports;
  • Execute projects according to established timelines and budgets;
  • Perform site surveys and inspections of building structures;
  • Develop and maintain communication with stakeholders (clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors) throughout the project;
  • Oversee the execution of structural work during the construction phase;
  • Ensure compliance with quality control processes for projects;
  • Support colleagues in various project activities;
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Building Structure option);
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable standards and codes in Quebec;
  • Ability to represent the company effectively with clients ;
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously and working in a team;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT (an asset);
  • Excellent spoken and written French; English is an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
