Mechanical designer

Our client, a leader in its sector of activity, specializing in the design, manufacturing and installation of automated equipment for the manufacturing sector is currently looking for a mechanical designer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Engineering Director, your main mandate will be to design equipment in accordance with customer specifications and requirements in addition to supporting the sales team in preparing quotes. As such you will see to:

  • Design machines/equipment in accordance with applicable international standards and according to customer requirements in 3D;
  • Develop component lists, raw materials and commercial lists as well as catalogs for customers;
  • Participate in the achievement of project mandates within the limits of defined targets while meeting customer expectations;
  • Participate in the production of installation and production documentation;
  • Participate in the production of documentation for the maintenance and operation of equipment, intended for use by the customer;
  • Transmit information to production for the manufacturing of equipment and ensure that they have all the necessary support to successfully manufacture the equipment;
  • Interact with purchasing to ensure the right items are procured according to specifications and in a timely manner to produce proposals;
  • Support the purchasing team in the selection of suppliers;
  • Adopt processes and tools to improve efficiency;
  • Help resolve technical issues that may arise during project execution;
  • Communicate with customers as needed in collaboration with the sales and project teams;
  • Support the sales team during the preparation of quotes and participate in defining the project execution plan and estimating costs during the quote phase;
  • Apply process expertise and solution knowledge when preparing technical and economic proposals taking into account the most economical solutions to meet customer needs and the company's sales strategy;
  • Support the sales team on all technical/commercial aspects, during negotiations with customers and the conclusion of the transaction;
  • Perform any other tasks compatible with your duties.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, DEC in mechanical engineering or other relevant training in engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant design experience;
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD 3D;
  • Experience in the design of automated equipment will be considered an important asset;
  • Functional bilingualism (French and English spoken and written).
