Electrical design engineer (control panels)

Our client, a well-established company specializing in the development and manufacturing of a diverse range of electrical equipment, is currently looking for an electrical design engineer to continue its growth.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Engineering Director, your main mandate will be to participate in the electrical design of the control panels in addition to carrying out the parts lists, order specifications and production drawings. As such, you will see to:

  • Analyze specifications from the client and carry out the best optimized project taking into account calls for tenders and the final design stage;
  • Select all electrical equipment (accessories), materials and define appropriate quantities. Carry out a cost analysis before placing the order;
  • Actively participate in the design and review of feedback from customers and other internal functions;
  • Propose new ideas during the design phase, resolving technical issues throughout the evolution of the design process;
  • Answer technical questions and reports requested, both from the customer and the Sales Department;
  • Conduct research and analysis on new products by following market trends, and apply them in new designs;
  • Prepare and verify schematics and control box drawings;
  • Establish the CML (Critical Material List) for all electrical components/accessories at the earliest stages of design;
  • Calculate design and material costs, identifying savings related to EAS (Autonomous Security Equipment);
  • Provide support to the Electrical Design Department and guide the final assembly team in production, including supervising cabling.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other similar field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cabling design with schematics (ANSI-CSA);
  • Functional mastery of French and English, both oral and written;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software;
  • Communication and project management skills (an asset);
  • Experience in the transformer industry will be considered an asset.
