Our client, a well-established company specializing in the development and manufacturing of a diversified range of electrical equipment, is currently seeking, in order to continue its growth, for a mechanical design engineer.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the Director of engineering, you will contribute to the mechanical design activities, ensuring mechanical structural design of electrical equipment through design, check & validation of mechanical design layout & calculations. In addition, you will be responsible to coordinate with internal and external customers, sales & marketing as necessary. As such, you will :
- Work on mechanical design e.g. tank layout/3D model, customer approval drawings, Tank Purchase drawings, Core frame design/drawings as and when required ;
- Guide the technical work of teammates ;
- Review and provide feedback on tank/3D models, tank purchase drawings prepared by mechanical designers, in accordance with customer specifications, internal design guidelines and industry standards (IEEE, CSA, IEC, etc.) ;
- Check mechanical design calculations and check and validate structural design of the tank ;
- Participate in design review with customers/consultants, quality, production and/or other internal functions ;
- Offer Technical support to other departments, customers, and suppliers ;
- Carry out every other task compatible with your functions.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or other relevant education ;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or in an industrial or manufacturing environment ;
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor 3D ;
- Experience with ANSYS Simulation software for analysis of mechanical structural design (an asset) ;
- Experience in power transformer design (an asset) ;
- Experience in tank or pressure vessel (an asset) ;
- Analytical mindset and strong judgment capabilities ;
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
