Electrical/Automation Engineer

Our client, a company specialized in the design and manufacturing of modular units and automation tools for process optimization and industrial control, providing turnkey solutions to manufacturing companies serving the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food markets, is currently looking for an Electrical/Automation Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the company management, your main responsibility will be to carry out the electrical design of equipment, including bill of materials, ordering specifications, and production drawings. Additionally, you will participate in the execution and implementation of automation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Collecting exhaustively basic client data and information from other stakeholders;
  • Designing control panels and electrical systems (low voltage < 700 V) according to UL508a or CSA C22.2 No 286 standards for automated equipment;
  • Preparing electrical plans, material lists, control panel drawings, and selecting components;
  • Designing electrical equipment and systems applying engineering best practices and current international standards;
  • Preparing documentation for the workshop and installation;
  • Assisting and guiding workshop technicians during the assembly and testing phases of systems;
  • Providing remote support to installation and startup teams at client sites;
  • Occasionally participating in system installations and startups at client sites;
  • Attending coordination meetings and effectively synchronizing different project phases;
  • Proactively managing project budgets, ensuring rigorous cost tracking and adherence to schedules;
  • Programming PLCs, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other automation-related components;
  • Meeting established deadlines based on objectives and specifications defined in the client's specifications;
  • Facilitating transparent and effective communication between the client, various contractual stakeholders, and the project team;
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures, particularly emphasizing compliance with quality assurance standards;
  • Performing any other tasks compatible with your role.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or other relevant engineering field;
  • Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (Quebec Order of Engineers);
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design;
  • Experience in three-phase low-voltage design and control panels (<700 V, <1000A);
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, ePlan, or similar design software;
  • In-depth knowledge of CSA standards C22.1, C22.2 No 287 (an asset);
  • Functional bilingualism (spoken and written French and English);
  • Basic experience in PLC programming, preferably Rockwell Automation;
  • Holding a valid driver's license;
  • Holding a passport and being available for occasional international travel;
  • Being proactive and demonstrating leadership skills;
  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal relationship abilities.
