Electrical Engineering Team Leader

Our client, a company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of installations and equipment for the aerospace sector, is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Team Leader.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Director of Engineering, you will assist in coordinating the electrical engineering team to ensure the successful execution of electrical engineering activities. You will also carry out various tasks related to the design, supply, and deployment of the equipment manufactured by the company. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will take part in large-scale projects aimed at developing solutions tailored to client needs, while ensuring standardization and product and process quality. In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to ensure all tasks of your group are carried out and to allocate resources appropriately, in addition to handling other technical and administrative aspects;
  • Ensure team engagement toward achieving objectives, provide mentorship, identify training needs, and participate in the recruitment of new talent;
  • Participate in the creation and monitoring of estimates and execution schedules, as well as in the engineering forecasts prepared by project teams;
  • Validate and/or detail the specifications in the management tool;
  • Analyze and translate test and contractual technical requirements into technical specifications for the product to be developed and produced;
  • Within the project team, prepare plans, specifications, and technical documents to meet the established technical specifications during preliminary design;
  • Ensure that project milestones are met and deliverables are produced by the required dates (as specified in review forms and project registry);
  • Act as the technical lead for the client and key suppliers within your field of expertise (instrumentation/electricity);
  • Prepare design requirement documents (DRDs) for the manufacturing and installation of subcontracted work;
  • Organize design meetings with stakeholders, lead daily meetings, and follow up on action items;
  • Ensure the application of the quality management system;
  • Support the production, installation, and commissioning teams;
  • Foster and promote innovation and collaboration in projects and processes;
  • Perform any other duties consistent with your role.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline;
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Experience in signal acquisition (analog, digital, frequency, etc.) and in low-voltage AC and DC electricity (equipment, distribution, protection, control, etc.) and instrumentation (temperature, pressure, speed, vibration, etc.);
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment standards and regulations (CSA, UL, CE);
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and AutoCAD Electrical;
  • Awareness of budget and delivery schedule constraints;
  • Willingness to travel abroad occasionally;
  • Functional bilingualism (spoken and written French and English) to collaborate with an international clientele.
