Senior Industrial Engineer
Our client, a company specializing in the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge LED lighting solutions with an international clientele, is currently seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the Vice President, your primary mandate will be to lead industrialization and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple product lines to ensure efficient and scalable production processes—from product design through to manufacturing. You will also oversee team members and contribute to excellence in Lean manufacturing. Finally, you will be responsible for optimizing processes and systems by developing, improving, and implementing integrated systems to standardize and continuously improve production. In this role, you will:
- Promote Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) practices in collaboration with the R&D department;
- Lead the industrialization of new products, including pilot series, tooling validation, and process optimization;
- Define and implement scalable workflows, layouts, and work instructions for various product families;
- Plan and manage the selection of tools, jigs, fixtures, and production equipment;
- Coordinate industrial engineering, testing, machining, maintenance, and tooling teams to deliver NPI (New Product Introduction) projects;
- Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities using time studies, Value Stream Mapping, and Root Cause Analysis;
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve throughput and efficiency;
- Standardize processes across different sites when possible;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production operations;
- Resolve inefficiencies related to equipment and processes;
- Manage the industrial engineering technical support team and support the production department;
- Lead, manage, and participate in continuous improvement activities and projects, and oversee their implementation (Kaizen and Lean initiatives);
- Maintain workload balance within the team;
- Perform any other tasks consistent with your role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant field;
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector;
- Member of the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec);
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, as well as product and process design;
- Strong mentoring skills, with the ability to coach and develop junior team members;
- Bilingual in French and English (an advanced level of English is essential for this role, as it facilitates communication with a diverse range of partners);
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP/MRP systems;
- Proficiency in SolidWorks / AutoCAD is an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical schematics and drawings;
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure;
- Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques.
