Manufacturing Project Engineer

Our client is a manufacturing company specialized in the transformation of plastic materials for the food market. Currently, our client is seeking a Project Engineer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Technical Director, you will be responsible for the development of new products as well as projects related to the purchase of tooling or production equipment. In this role, you will:

  • Establish performance requirements for the product and the manufacturing processes for the new product to be developed;
  • Estimate and then define the production parameters, required investments, and project timeline in order to determine the product costing and enable the preparation of a client proposal through a structured bidding process;
  • Oversee the design stages and internal/external manufacturing of the new product and required production equipment;
  • Monitor the project timeline to promptly resolve issues that could cause delays;
  • Coordinate and supervise the initial testing of new production equipment;
  • Oversee qualification tests for new products and coordinate adjustments as needed;
  • Participate in and support customer trials to obtain the necessary approvals to launch production of the new products;
  • Monitor the operational performance of new products to ensure adherence to the production parameters used to establish costing (cycle time, cavitation, weight, scrap rate, etc.);
  • Perform any other related tasks associated with your responsibilities.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other relevant engineering field;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Excel, Word (Microsoft Office Suite);
  • Fluency in French and English (English proficiency is preferred for this position to ensure effective communication with suppliers and partners);
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills;
  • Strong work organization skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
