Our client, a leader in the construction industry specializing in civil engineering works, structures, infrastructure, and municipal services, known for its expertise and commitment to the environment, is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Project Director, your primary role will be to manage the administrative aspects of the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge construction project. You will serve as the communication link between the company and the client. You will also be responsible for providing the material resources required to execute the contract and for assisting superintendents and foremen in coordinating project progress. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising, training, and supporting assistant project managers to ensure their development and efficiency;
  • Analyzing contracts, plans, specifications, and studies to fully understand the scope, technical, financial, and contractual issues of each project;
  • Optimizing design and work methods, both before and during the project, by drafting the necessary procedures;
  • Planning and coordinating project handovers to the team, identifying potential issues, and proposing solutions;
  • Establishing and updating project schedules with the superintendent and ensuring constant follow-up on work progress;
  • Anticipating material, equipment, and labor needs, and organizing their procurement, delivery, and fabrication;
  • Negotiating and performing strategic purchases, ensuring good value for money and on-time delivery;
  • Coordinating and following up on any modifications or issues (technical, health and safety, contractual, etc.) with the relevant stakeholders;
  • Maintaining smooth communication with superintendents and foremen, ensuring proper execution and up-to-date information;
  • Overseeing the documentation and administrative management of the site (daily reports, correspondence, accounting codes, file organization);
  • Managing project financial follow-up: invoice validation, cost monitoring, monthly profitability, and preparing payment statements;
  • Preparing and tracking change orders, ensuring contractual and financial compliance;
  • Organizing and participating in site and client meetings, while documenting discussions and decisions;
  • Managing disputes and claims, ensuring the company's interests are defended;
  • Conducting post-mortem project analyses to identify areas for improvement in future projects;
  • Performing any other tasks compatible with the position.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering;
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in bridge structures;
  • Strong experience in project management;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (asset);
  • Strong communication skills with site teams and stakeholders;
  • Organized and structured;
  • Fluency in French and English, spoken and written;
  • Holder of an ASP Construction card;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
