Senior Systems Engineer (Display Systems)

Our client, a company specializing in the development and manufacturing of optical solutions (AMLCD displays, backlighting, EMI filtering, etc.) operating in the military and defense, aerospace, high-end medical, and industrial markets, is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Director of Engineering – Display Systems and working in collaboration with the product and program management team, you will be responsible for defining product architecture, reviewing and defining product specifications, and establishing and managing product requirements. You will also be required to collaborate with clients during technical reviews or in business development contexts. To succeed in this role, you will leverage your hands-on skills in designing electronic functional schematics and software/hardware diagrams. You must also possess the technical expertise to review electronic schematics, calculations, and component selections. In this role, you will:

  • Lead the definition of display product architectures for avionics and military applications;
  • Define product specifications and requirements;
  • Implement a requirements management and validation system;
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and technology partners;
  • Perform engineering analyses in the areas of hardware, firmware, software, optics, and mechanics;
  • Support the business development team through technical presentations, concept development, and participation in proposal preparation;
  • Conduct research on new technologies and monitor emerging display technologies;
  • Perform any other tasks consistent with your role.

Required qualification

  • Perform any other tasks consistent with your role.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in avionics and/or knowledge of display technologies will be considered an asset;
  • Experience in systems architecture with the ability to carry out and supervise hardware, software, and firmware designs;
  • Skills in soldering and prototyping;
  • Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis in a production environment;
  • Knowledge of CAD design tools for electrical and mechanical hardware (Altium, SolidWorks, etc.);
  • Experience with reliability prediction tools such as Windchill for MTBF, FMECA, etc.;
  • Bilingual (French and English): spoken and written (proficiency in English is essential for effective collaboration with teams and clients);
  • Availability for occasional travel;
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
