Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer
Our client, a company specializing in the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge LED lighting solutions with an international clientele, is currently seeking a Industrial/manufacturing Engineer.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Vice President, your main responsibility will be to participate in industrialization and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple product lines in order to ensure efficient and scalable production processes, from product design to manufacturing. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Analyzing existing processes and systems and identifying areas for improvement;
- Designing and optimizing production layouts, manufacturing systems, and production processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and optimize workflow;
- Implementing process changes, new technologies, automation, and quality standards;
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient production operations;
- Resolving inefficiencies related to equipment and processes;
- Providing daily support to the production department;
- Improving, standardizing, and updating work methods;
- Conducting studies to determine the workload of factory personnel and equipment and reorganizing tasks if necessary to maximize production efficiency;
- Leading, managing, and participating in continuous improvement activities and projects, and overseeing their implementation;
- Actively participating in continuous improvement projects (VSM, 5S, Kanban, Kaizen) and implementing approved solutions;
- Conducting technical studies (workflow analysis, time and motion studies, value stream mapping, line balancing, management planning, etc.) to maximize production efficiency;
- Participating in production feasibility studies (identifying cost variance sources);
- Providing technical support to the production department, defining tooling and storage needs;
- Supporting the implementation of new products;
- Creating and implementing layouts and installation plans for equipment and workstations;
- Performing any other related tasks as required.
Required qualification
- Baccalauréat en génie industriel, génie mécanique ou autre formation pertinente ;
- Member of the OIQ or CPI (an asset);
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and product and process design (an asset);
- Bilingual in French and English (an advanced level of English is essential for this position as it facilitates communication with a diverse range of partners);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP/MRP systems;
- Proficiency in SolidWorks / AutoCAD is an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics and drawings;
- Ability to prioritize and work efficiently under pressure.
