Procurement Specialist
Our client is a company renowned for its expertise in the design and manufacturing of custom, innovative lighting solutions for a prestigious and international clientele. As part of their growth, our client is currently seeking a Procurement Specialist.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director and working closely with the R&D, design, and industrialization teams, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the availability, quality, and optimization of the materials and components required for product manufacturing, while promoting innovation and cross-functional collaboration. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Identifying and sourcing innovative suppliers (evaluating and qualifying new partners based on cost, quality, and lead time criteria);
- Participating in the development projects of new luminaires and lighting systems by providing procurement expertise;
- Identifying and defining the needs for parts, materials, and services for prototyping and testing;
- Preparing and sending Requests for Quotation (RFQs), analyzing the received bids, and recommending the most effective partners for issuing purchase orders;
- Ensuring proactive and rigorous follow-up with suppliers during product development through order management, follow-ups, and rapid resolution of disputes (delays, non-conformities, etc.);
- Working closely with the R&D department to ensure compliance with standards, technical requirements, and design;
- Drafting and monitoring engineering bill of material costs, analyzing discrepancies with the current BOM, and making budget optimization recommendations;
- Conducting technological watch and identifying new solutions and materials. Keeping up with market trends and technological innovations;
- Establishing a supplier database and monitoring their performance;
- Replacing the buyer during their absence and contributing to any related projects for the smooth operation of the department and company;
- Performing any other duties compatible with the role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, College Diploma in Administrative Techniques, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant education;
- This position requires excellent command of both French and English (spoken and written), due to communications with partners and suppliers outside Quebec;
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in procurement;
- Experience in the manufacturing sector is a significant asset;
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and complex specifications;
- Knowledge of lighting technologies and manufacturing processes (LED, electronics, materials, machining, molding, etc.) or general lighting expertise will be considered an asset;
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and ERP software.
