Project Manager – Automated Equipment

Our client is a company renowned for its expertise in the design and manufacturing of custom, innovative lighting solutions for a prestigious and international clientele. To meet growing demand, their goal is to expand their industrialization department to improve the manufacturing process. If you are passionate about the design and production of mechanical parts and are motivated by experimenting with new solutions, then join their team as a Project Manager – Automated Equipment.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Plant Director, your primary mandate will be to manage various projects related to the development of production equipment and manufacturing processes in order to improve production efficiency and product quality, while also supporting production during equipment assembly, startup, and ramp-up. In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Designing automated equipment and developing electrical schematics;
  • Programming automated systems;
  • Integrating sensors, actuators, relays, stepper motors, servomotors, etc.;
  • Participating in the manufacturing and commissioning of equipment;
  • Actively contributing to process analysis and identifying operational needs;
  • Participating in the optimization of existing equipment;
  • Assisting production with daily monitoring of technical issues and ongoing improvements;
  • Documenting designs (BOM, drawings, wiring instructions);
  • Managing the external manufacturing of parts and supervising the design of mechanical components necessary for proper equipment operation;
  • Working closely with other stakeholders within the company;
  • Performing any other tasks related to your role

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Automated Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the OIQ (an asset);
  • Solid knowledge of Arduino and/or Python programming (Raspberry Pi);
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics and microcontroller programming;
  • Excellent understanding of automation and the design of machines and equipment;
  • Basic mechanical knowledge (an asset);
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French and English;
  • Strong practical skills and comfort with hands-on work;
  • Rigorous, organized, and autonomous.
