Engineering Coordinator
Our client is a manufacturing company offering turnkey solutions in metal fabrication for various sectors, including stamping, laser cutting, bending, machining, welding, painting, and assembly. Focused on innovation, service, and excellence, and employing more than 600 people in Canada and Mexico, our client is currently seeking, for one of its divisions, an Engineering Coordinator.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, your main mandate will be to perform strength calculations, design custom products, support draftspeople in the execution of drawings, and contribute directly to the planning of the team's work. In addition, you will collaborate closely with production to optimize designs and actively participate in continuous improvement and innovation projects. In this role, you will:
- Perform strength calculations and ensure the design of products tailored to client needs;
- Supervise the preparation of approval drawings for designed products, then sign and seal the plans as an engineer;
- Contribute to the development and improvement of special or new products while respecting project costs, timelines, and requirements;
- Participate in managing improvements within the engineering team and lead weekly meetings;
- Take part in prototype development and innovation initiatives while improving internal methods and processes;
- Support the implementation of the engineering department head's directions (DMS, skills matrix, Lean tools), in collaboration with the supervisor;
- Supervise the engineering designer;
- Help maintain a collaborative environment based on respect, communication, and teamwork;
- Perform any other tasks compatible with your role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering training;
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
- Excellent command of strength of materials calculations;
- Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
- Very good knowledge of French and English (good knowledge of English is important as it facilitates communication with a diverse range of business partners);
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.);
- Knowledge of SolidWorks
- Experience in mechanical design;
- Knowledge of VBA (an asset).
