Automation specialist

Our client, a leader in its sector, specializes in the design, integration and maintenance of automated solutions. With its expertise in carrying out turnkey projects, it offers a wide range of automated solutions. In order to continue the growth of its activities, our client is currently looking for an automation specialist.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Project and Systems Director, your main mandate will be to evaluate, develop, integrate and ensure the maintenance of automated systems, IT, industrial control systems and human-interfaces. machines. Also, you will be responsible for planning, developing tests and developing automated control systems according to customer needs. As such you will see to:

  • Collect and document user needs in order to develop logical and physical specifications;
  • Research, evaluate and synthesize technical information to design, develop, modify, integrate and test control systems and software;
  • Develop industrial process and network models to optimize architecture and evaluate the performance and reliability of designs;
  • Set up automation frameworks to seamlessly integrate automated tests;
  • Provide solutions to concrete problems that could harm the growth of the company, suggest innovations/improvements and collaborate with the team to implement and deploy them;
  • Commission on-site control systems;
  • Promote efforts at the quality level of software solutions for projects of significant scale and impact;
  • Constantly evaluate anomalies in the product with the aim of improving the software and systems development process to prevent them from recurring;
  • Create a detailed testing strategy for all major feature launches, considering needs, contingencies, responsibilities, types of tests, deadlines, tools, managers involved, etc. ;
  • Develop manual and automated tests;
  • Diagnose and optimize hardware platforms (network devices);
  • Provide reports and maintain documentation;
  • Provide technical support to other stakeholders during customer repairs;
  • Participate in project meetings and provide reports;
  • As needed, play the role of manager and/or coordinator with information systems teams in the development of software and integrated information systems, process control software and other embedded control systems;
  • Perform all other tasks related to the functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in automated production engineering, DEC in industrial electronics or any other relevant training in automation;
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in automation;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) both orally and in writing;
  • Availability for international travel;
  • Very good knowledge of Rockwell Automation or Siemens automation systems;
  • Experience with iFix and/or Iconics for HMI/SCADA development;
  • Mastery of industrial network protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.);
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI (an asset);
  • Programming skills in C#, C++ and SQL (an asset);
  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams (an asset).
