Our client, a construction company specializing in interior systems (metal partitions, gypsum, joints, suspended ceilings, and exterior walls) for the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors, is currently seeking an Estimator.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the company's management, you will be responsible for estimating project costs for which the company has decided to bid or has been invited to tender. In this role, you will:
- Estimate construction costs based on plans and specifications;
- Calculate the price of extras;
- Negotiate contracts and extras with clients;
- Conduct follow-up calls with clients;
- Respond to foremen when they have questions about the plans;
- Monitor the progress of work versus the bid;
- Provide weekly progress reports to management;
- Communicate with clients regarding any project-related questions;
- Establish lasting relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, etc.;
- Solicit bids from material suppliers and negotiate with them;
- Prepare bids for the CCDC;
- Perform any other tasks compatible with your role.
Required qualification
- DEC in Civil Engineering or Architecture or any other relevant training;
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in estimation;
- Excellent ability to read plans and specifications;
- Knowledge of Quebec construction laws and regulations;
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, MS Project, and an estimation software (Gextim, Planswift, etc.).
