Our client, a well-established SME in Quebec providing consulting engineering and general contracting services in the fields of environmental services, forestry, geomatics, and civil engineering, and having developed strong relationships and partnerships with numerous Indigenous communities throughout Quebec, is currently seeking a Project Manager.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Director of Civil Works, your primary responsibility will be to plan, organize, direct, and oversee the work associated with various projects, in addition to participating in project cost estimating. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Participate in the management of various civil engineering projects;
• Participate in the preparation of bids and estimates;
• Develop project schedules;
• Plan work crews;
• Participate in establishing budgets for various projects and prepare related reports;
• Identify potential risks associated with projects being bid on;
• Monitor project costs;
• Work collaboratively with partners, primarily Indigenous-owned companies;
• Communicate with clients regarding all project-related matters;
• Prepare preliminary budgets for certain projects;
• Negotiate final costs with subcontractors;
• Participate in various site meetings, including administrative, technical, and coordination meetings;
• Manage the administrative aspects of construction sites, including reports, change notices, extras, and any other project amendments;
• Ensure compliance with the required quality standards as stipulated in contractual documents;
• Perform any other duties consistent with the position.

Required qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering, a college diploma (DEC) in Civil Engineering, or other relevant training;
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience;
• Knowledge of Quebec construction laws and regulations;
• Ability to travel to various construction sites, primarily located in Northern Quebec;
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project, as well as TPL software;
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence;
• Ability to communicate clearly with various stakeholders;
• Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written (proficiency in English is essential to collaborate effectively with English-speaking partners).
