Maintenance Manager

Our client, an important company specializing in the manufacture of a polymer used in the production of packaging for the food industry, plastic films and fibers, is currently looking for a Maintenance Manager for its state-of-the-art plant.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Plant Operations Manager, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the activities of the maintenance group (staff and subcontractors), the safe and on-budget completion of work, the reliability and availability of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and HVAC equipment. As such you will :

  • Supervise the work of the mechanical team, as well as subcontractors by ensuring the safe execution of work ;
  • Participate in the development of safety, reliability and quality programs for maintenance work (work plan) ;
  • Ensure the maintenance of the files related to the equipment ;
  • Ensure the availability of equipment and its spare parts for the continuous operation of the plant ;
  • Ensure the maintenance of the files related to the equipment ;
  • Generate, on an ongoing basis, improvements to all facilities, particularly during change management meetings ;
  • Ensure the follow-up of the preventive maintenance program for mechanical equipment ;
  • Prepare and execute the supervision of the tasks for the realization of the activities of planned stops of the plant ;
  • Plan and coordinate all daily and long term activities for maintenance, projects, decommissioning, improvements and others for the mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation components ;
  • Coordinate the work to ensure the maintenance and high level of reliability and performance of the plant's equipment ;
  • Ensure the follow-up of the preventive maintenance program for instruments, analyzers and electrical equipment ;
  • Act as the person in charge of maintaining the standards of the electrical code, as well as the proper functioning of high and low voltage electrical equipment ;
  • Participate in the plant's electrical energy efficiency analysis process, make recommendations to optimize the utilization factor and reduce the cost of energy consumed in the plant ;
  • Propose additions or modifications to improve control and protection systems and reduce downtime ;
  • Determine the spare electrical parts to be kept in inventory and the minimum lot size ;
  • See to the maintenance of elevators, inspections, compliance with the standards of the elevator code and the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) ;
  • Act as the RSQ standard manager and produce an annual report as well as plan and execute cyclical inspections and maintain a record of emissions and exposure levels ;
  • Collaborate with the mechanical engineer on facility modifications/improvements (operational expertise) ;
  • Participate in the preparation and control of the budget for his sector ;
  • Plan and carry out the purchase requisitions inherent to his sector and approve the purchase orders ;
  • Administer various contracts (HVAC system service contract, fire alarm system service contract, generator service contract, etc.) ;
  • Ensure the availability of technical assistance outside of the maintenance team's working hours by setting up an availability schedule for 24-hour/7-day coverage ;
  • Participate in the definition of performance indicators related to the maintenance aspect of the plant ;
  • Work in close collaboration with the human resources management department ;
  • Promote a work environment that fosters motivation, accountability and performance ;
  • Coach and mentor employees under his/her supervision ;
  • Participate in the selection process as needed ;
  • Identify the training and development needs of employees ;
  • Ensure the application of internal policies, procedures, work methods and regulations ;
  • Conduct performance appraisals of staff ;
  • Identify the need for and collaborate with Human Resources in the disciplinary process of its employees as needed ;
  • Carry out every other task compatible with your functions.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, DEC in instrumentation, electrodynamics, industrial maintenance or other relevant training ;
  • Knowledge of the industrial and building mechanical sector ;
  • Holder of the A-2 Electrical License (an asset) ;
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience ;
  • Knowledge of the chemical and/or petrochemical sector (an asset) ;
  • Computer skills: MS Office and maintenance software ;
  • Ability to use an integrated management software program (ERP) ;
  • Good knowledge in electricity, instrumentation and control (an asset) ;
  • Functional bilingualism (French and English), both oral and written.
