Director of Engineering and R&D (Electrical Connectivity Solutions)
Our client, a company specialized in the design and manufacturing of connectivity solutions (connectors, phase conductors, line hardware, etc.) and protective and safety equipment (PPE, insulating gloves, voltage detectors, etc.) intended for North American electrical power generation and distribution companies, is currently seeking a Director of Engineering and R&D.
Nature of position
Reporting to the North American Director of Engineering and R&D, you will work at the core of research, development, and continuous improvement activities, in close collaboration with the engineering, laboratory, manufacturing, quality, operations, and commercial teams. Your mission: transform market needs into reliable, high-performance solutions aligned with industry standards. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leading R&D activities related to T&D products, systems, and technologies;
- Designing, analyzing, and improving engineering products, materials, and processes;
- Overseeing the design, testing, validation, and production implementation phases;
- Managing a team of engineers and laboratory technicians across multiple simultaneous projects;
- Analyzing technical performance and proposing improvements;
- Ensuring compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and regulations;
- Monitoring technological trends and supporting innovation;
- Acting as a technical leader and mentor for engineering and laboratory teams;
- Performing all other tasks compatible with your role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant field;
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
- Bilingualism in French and English (English proficiency is essential for this position, as it facilitates communication with a diverse range of business partners, both domestic and international);
- Experience in power transmission and distribution, utilities, or a related industrial sector;
- Strong technical, analytical, and project management skills;
- Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.
