Mechanical designer

Our client is a company recognized for its expertise in the design and manufacturing of innovative, custom lighting solutions for a prestigious international clientele. To meet growing demand, their goal is to expand their industrialization department in order to improve the manufacturing process. If you are passionate about the design and fabrication of mechanical parts and are motivated by experimenting with new solutions, then join their team as a Mechanical Designer.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of management, you will work closely with the Automated Equipment Project Manager to improve production efficiency and product quality. You will also be involved in the development of new products in collaboration with the design department. In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and fabricating tools required for production;
  • Creating 3D designs and models of equipment, assemblies, and sub-assemblies, and producing 2D manufacturing drawings when required;
  • Participating in the commissioning of equipment;
  • Developing and preparing engineering technical models and drawings for parts and/or mechanical components;
  • Creating drawings from preliminary concepts or sketches;
  • Contributing to design reviews to determine components based on project requirements;
  • Designing and fabricating prototype parts and/or presentation models for the design department;
  • Keeping the drawing archive and data management system up to date as it relates to your team’s activities;
  • Working closely with other stakeholders within the company;
  • Performing any other tasks consistent with your duties.

Required qualification

  • DEC in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant training;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and fabrication;
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (SolidWorks);
  • Expertise in the manufacturing of complex mechanical parts, including CNC machining and conventional machines;
  • Good command of spoken and written French and English;
  • Rigorous, organized, and autonomous;
  • Meticulous with a strong attention to detail;
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the constraints involved in designing high-end products;
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with the entire team.
