Our client, a major food processing company well established in Quebec for over 35 years, is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Maintenance, you will be actively involved in the implementation and optimization of industrial projects within a demanding agri-food environment. Additionally, you will help ensure the proper functioning of facilities, maintain quality, safety, and hygiene standards, and support the plant’s technical development. In this role, you will:
- Assist the Director of Engineering in coordinating continuous improvement projects, equipment modernization, and the implementation of new production lines;
- Supervise a team of engineers;
- Monitor technical interventions related to processing equipment, packaging, industrial refrigeration, automation, etc.;
- Participate in the management of budgets, planning schedules, suppliers, and subcontractors;
- Ensure strict compliance with HACCP standards and food safety regulations;
- Support maintenance and production teams in resolving technical issues;
- Work closely with quality, production, and health & safety departments to ensure industrial performance;
- Propose and implement optimization actions (energy, efficiency, productivity, cost);
- Act as the technical reference in the absence of the Director of Engineering;
- Perform any other duties consistent with your role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, food engineering, or other relevant engineering field;
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience;
- Experience in the agri-food industry will be considered an asset;
- Strong analytical skills, rigor, organizational ability, and excellent interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency with CMMS tools, CAD software, and project management tools.
