Mechanical Engineering Team Leader

Our client, a company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of facilities and equipment for the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Team Leader.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will assist in coordinating the mechanical engineering team to ensure the successful execution of mechanical engineering activities. You will also perform a variety of tasks related to the design, selection, planning, and deployment of equipment manufactured by the company. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will take part in major projects aimed at developing solutions that meet client needs, while ensuring process and product standardization and quality. In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to ensure your group’s work is completed effectively, allocate resources accordingly, and manage technical and administrative aspects;
  • Ensure team engagement in achieving goals, provide mentoring, identify training needs, and assist in recruiting new talent;
  • Participate in the creation and monitoring of estimates, project schedules, and engineering forecasts;
  • Validate and/or detail the specifications in the management tool;
  • Develop mechanical operation diagrams, perform engineering calculations to support design work, and apply geometric and functional tolerancing;
  • Select hydraulic, pneumatic, aerodynamic, and acoustic components;
  • Carry out, validate, and/or approve technical work including specifications, preliminary calculations, drawings, equipment lists, design of structures and auxiliary systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, aerodynamic, and acoustic), procedures, manuals, etc.;
  • Supervise 2D/3D detailed mechanical design;
  • Organize design meetings with stakeholders, lead daily meetings, and follow up on resulting actions;
  • Ensure application of the quality management system;
  • Support production, installation, and commissioning teams;
  • Conduct machine risk and safety analyses;
  • Promote innovation and collaboration in projects and processes;
  • Perform any other tasks compatible with your responsibilities.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor / Vault and Siemens NX (an asset);
  • Strong attention to detail and rigor;
  • Creativity in finding simple solutions to complex problems;
  • Awareness of budget and delivery deadlines;
  • Willingness to travel abroad occasionally;
  • Functional bilingualism (spoken and written French and English) to collaborate with an international clientele.
