Product Engineer
Our client, a company specializing in the development and distribution of a wide range of specialized plumbing products for the North American market, is currently seeking a Product Development Engineer.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for designing, improving, and evolving solutions adapted to the realities of the North American market. You will play a key role in the continuous improvement of products and their quality, while collaborating closely with teams, suppliers, and partners to advance standards and support the company's growth. In this role, you will:
- Design and develop new products to expand the product line and meet market needs;
- Improve existing products to optimize their performance, reliability, and manufacturing cost;
- Collaborate with production to optimize processes and work tools (inspection, methods, continuous improvement);
- Provide technical support for drafting instruction sheets and product technical data sheets;
- Contribute to the optimization of the quality control system and ensure its implementation;
- Collaborate with the purchasing department in sourcing and evaluating new suppliers;
- Travel to meet and audit suppliers and technology partners;
- Provide technical support to the sales team (customer inquiries, support for quotations, participation in trade shows, etc.);
- Perform all other tasks compatible with your role.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering training;
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience;
- Technical expertise in manufacturing – basic knowledge of industrial processes (e.g., plastic extrusion, molding, machining of parts, etc.);
- Ability to innovate in product design/concepts;
- Expertise in plumbing, building mechanics, and/or process mechanics will be considered a strong asset;
- Bilingualism (French and English, both spoken and written) is required as you will collaborate with English-speaking and other-language suppliers;
- Proficiency in 3D parametric design software;
- Ability to analyze technical drawings and engineering documents;
- Ability to participate in trade shows and travel occasionally for supplier audits abroad.
