Our client is a company specializing in innovative lighting, LED video displays, as well as media control and integration solutions. Their expertise is showcased in a wide range of remarkable projects around the world, from architectural lighting and multimedia art installations to touring experiences for some of the world's biggest artists. Our client is currently seeking a FPGA Designer.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Vice President of Product Development and R&D, and working within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development of new products and the continuous evolution of the existing product line, you will participate in the design, development, integration, and validation of FPGA solutions for innovative technology products. You may also contribute to electrical design, product and prototype development, while ensuring the maintenance of technical documentation in compliance with deadlines and quality standards. More specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing FPGA design in a video processing environment;
  • Programming FPGAs in VHDL according to design specifications;
  • Participating in defining technical specifications and digital system architectures;
  • Implementing and validating FPGA designs;
  • Performing testing, debugging, and FPGA integration on electronic boards;
  • Optimizing performance, resource utilization, and power consumption of designs;
  • Collaborating with electronic and industrial design teams on the development and evolution of new products according to specifications;
  • Managing assigned projects throughout all stages of product development, from design to production;
  • Designing and maintaining printed circuit boards (PCBs), wiring diagrams, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with certification requirements;
  • Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs);
  • Collaborating with suppliers and monitoring R&D projects;
  • Working closely with marketing and sales teams on product initiatives;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the lighting product line throughout its lifecycle;
  • Performing any other tasks compatible with the position.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other relevant education;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Relevant experience in FPGA design;
  • Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of digital communication protocols (SPI, I2C, PCIe, Ethernet, UART, etc.);
  • Strong proficiency in HDL languages (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog);
  • Knowledge of the SMPTE 2110 standard;
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent PCB design software (an asset);
  • Good understanding of technical schematics and procedures;
  • Proficiency in both French and English (English language skills are preferred for this position in order to communicate effectively with clients and partners when required).
