Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of facilities and equipment for the aerospace industry, is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Director of Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks related to the design, selection, planning, and deployment of ground testing equipment for the aerospace industry. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will participate in large-scale projects aimed at developing solutions that meet client needs while ensuring the standardization and quality of processes and products. In this role, you will:

  • Prepare specifications based on client requirements;
  • Develop mechanical operation diagrams (P&ID);
  • Select hydraulic, pneumatic, aerodynamic, and acoustic components;
  • Performing pressure drop calculations and preliminary structural calculations;
  • Supervising detailed mechanical design using 2D/3D CAD tools;
  • Reviewing production drawings;
  • Participating in the drafting and verification of installation, operation, and maintenance instructions;
  • Providing support to production, installation, and commissioning teams;
  • Participating in the design and validation of industrial machines and systems;
  • Designing welded steel structures and machine components (motors, shafts, bearings, cylinders, hardware, etc.);
  • Selecting hydraulic components (pumps, valves, regulators, filters, flow meters, heat exchangers, etc.);
  • Conducting machine risk and safety analyses;
  • Performing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T);
  • Applying problem-solving methodologies (Root Cause Analysis);
  • Performing any other tasks compatible with the position.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant design experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Ability to travel to participate in on-site installations;
  • Advanced spoken and written English due to the high volume of international clients;
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor / Vault and Siemens NX (an asset).
