Production Planner
Our client, a manufacturing company specialized in the fabrication of steel products for the power transmission, road safety, telecommunications, and mining sectors, serving both the Canadian and American markets, is currently looking for a Production Planner to support its continued growth.
Nature of position
Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing production activities to ensure deadlines are met, resources are available, and plant operations run efficiently. You will work closely with the production, procurement, engineering, quality, and project management teams to ensure the smooth execution of orders, from the receipt of requirements through to final delivery. More specifically, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining production schedules based on priorities, plant capacity, customer deadlines, and material availability. Your ability to manage several projects simultaneously, communicate effectively with various stakeholders across different time zones, and make quick decisions will be essential to your success in this role. In this capacity, you will be responsible for:
- Developing, updating, and monitoring production schedules based on orders, priorities, and operational capacity;
- Producing and analyzing various reports related to planning, work progress, and production performance;
- Monitoring ongoing projects and communicating necessary adjustments to internal teams;
- Identifying risks related to production deadlines and recommending corrective actions;
- Maintaining clear communication with the various stakeholders to ensure the smooth flow of information;
- Coordinating labour, material, equipment, and subcontracting requirements with the departments concerned;
- Collaborating with the production, procurement, engineering, quality, and project management teams;
- Participating in the continuous improvement of planning methods and operational processes;
- Performing any other duties related to your role.
Required qualification
- Training in operations management, industrial engineering, logistics, administration, or any other relevant field;
- Experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment;
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work with several departments and manage changing priorities;
- Proficiency with computer tools, ERP/MRP systems, and the Microsoft Office suite;
- Rigour, autonomy, team spirit, and strong communication skills;
- Functional bilingualism in French and English, due to activities in Canada and the United States.
