Senior Electrical Engineer
Our client, a company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of facilities and equipment for the aerospace industry, is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer.
Nature of position
Reporting to the Director of Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation, you will play a key role in the technical coordination of projects and in supporting the engineering teams. Working closely with management and project managers, you will ensure the effective allocation of resources, monitor work progress, and maintain the quality of deliverables. You will also act as a technical resource, participate in meetings with stakeholders, and anticipate the impact of decisions on other departments. Through your hands-on leadership, you will help engage the team, identify issues encountered in the field, and promote initiatives that support the department's continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the Director to ensure the completion of all work assigned to the group, allocating resources appropriately, and supporting other technical and administrative initiatives aimed at improving the department;
- Contributing to project delivery as a member of the technical team;
- Organizing design meetings with stakeholders, including the project manager, as required;
- Coordinating the execution of technical tasks by the teams and monitoring their progress;
- Participating in technical meetings with clients, as required;
- Answering the team's technical questions;
- Anticipating and communicating impacts on other departments;
- Working with the project manager to estimate the engineering hours required to complete deliverables;
- Confirming the architecture applicable to project drawings and products, drawing registers, and software;
- Acting as an on-site liaison to assess the team's overall climate and help foster engagement;
- Assessing team motivation and providing coaching;
- Identifying obstacles and sources of frustration;
- Highlighting team members' initiatives and presenting them to the Director;
- Performing any other duties consistent with the position.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience;
- Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar design software, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition systems for temperature, pressure, speed, vibration, and similar measurements, and control systems such as PLCs;
- Experience in the design and deployment of industrial measurement and control equipment is considered an asset;
- Experience integrating instrumentation sensors and analog and digital inputs and outputs for temperature, pressure, speed, vibration, and similar measurements is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of low-voltage AC and DC electrical systems, including switchgear, distribution, protection, and control, is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of electrical equipment codes and standards, including CSA, UL, and CE, is considered an asset;
- Ability to travel once or twice per year to participate in on-site installations;
- Advanced spoken and written English skills, due to the high volume of international clients.
