Our client, a company specializing in the design and construction of biogas production facilities, combining industrial innovation, agricultural partnerships, and a strong commitment to the energy, agricultural, and environmental transition, is currently seeking a Process Engineer.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Project Manager, your primary responsibility will be to participate in all stages of biomethanization projects, from feasibility studies through to facility commissioning. In particular, you will be responsible for process design and sizing, preparation of drawings and technical documentation, equipment selection, and technical support during the construction and commissioning of the facilities. You will also collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and the various stakeholders involved in the projects to ensure the technical compliance, performance, and reliability of the installations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct feasibility studies for biomethanization projects;
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs);
  • Perform preliminary sizing of process structures and equipment, including tank volumes, grinders, agitators, and other equipment;
  • Use and leverage internal calculation tools and files to size biomethanization facilities;
  • Prepare design calculations (pressure losses, pipe sizing, desulfurization systems, etc.) required for facility design;
  • Prepare and update 2D drawings, general arrangement drawings, sections, and technical details;
  • Produce and review P&IDs intended to be signed and sealed;
  • Create 3D models of facilities using AutoCAD Plant 3D;
  • Participate in the preparation of electrical and control network architectures;
  • Prepare various technical schedules and lists (piping line lists, motor lists, and control panel input/output lists);
  • Draft technical specifications required for the construction of process facilities;
  • Prepare technical specifications for requests for quotation;
  • Participate in commercial negotiations for the purchase of equipment such as pumps, grinders, agitators, heat exchangers, instrumentation, etc.;
  • Provide technical oversight of work performed on construction sites;
  • Verify that installations and structures are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and technical requirements;
  • Participate in construction site meetings as required;
  • Coordinate deliveries of equipment supplied by the company;
  • Coordinate the activities of various specialists, including electricians, mechanics, and commissioning technicians;
  • Validate the performance of biomethanization units and their compliance with design objectives;
  • Perform any other duties consistent with the position.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, or another relevant field;
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in process engineering/process mechanical engineering;
  • Experience conducting technical studies;
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and control systems in an industrial environment;
  • Strong scientific and technical specification writing skills.
