HVAC Sales Engineer

Our client, a Canadian manufacturers' representative operating in the HVAC industry, works with several of the industry's leading manufacturers to support consulting engineering firms and mechanical contractors in the design, selection, and integration of high-performance mechanical systems. They are currently seeking a Sales Engineer for the Greater Montreal Area.

Nature of position

Reporting to the Vice-President, your primary responsibility will be to develop sales and business relationships within the Montreal territory by promoting the products and solutions represented by the company. You will work closely with the Ottawa and Toronto teams to identify opportunities, recommend suitable solutions, and follow projects through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promote the HVAC products and solutions represented by the company to various industry stakeholders;
  • Advise clients on the selection and application of equipment based on their technical requirements;
  • Work closely with colleagues in Toronto and Ottawa to develop your expertise in the products and services offered by the company;
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities;
  • Analyze projects, prepare technical and commercial proposals, and follow up on quotations;
  • Implement strategies and action plans to achieve sales targets;
  • Negotiate commercial terms and participate in closing sales;
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to ensure efficient service and meet client needs;
  • Participate in the various stages of projects, from design through equipment start-up and commissioning;
  • Prepare sales activity reports and maintain up-to-date information in the CRM;
  • Analyze and report customer feedback to support continuous market improvement;
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, training sessions, and networking activities;
  • Perform any other duties consistent with the position.

Required qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical engineering strongly preferred);
  • Relevant experience in building mechanical systems, HVAC, technical sales, or technical product representation considered a significant asset;
  • Excellent business development, communication, and negotiation skills;
  • Strong customer and results orientation;
  • Valid driver's licence;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT/CPI) status;
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Availability to travel to Ontario and the United States.
