Our client, a well-established company operating internationally in the bottling, food, and packaging industries, is experiencing strong growth. Specializing in the design, manufacture, and installation of conveyor systems, as well as the distribution and integration of packaging equipment, this company is looking to fill a mechanical designer position.

Nature of position

Under the supervision of the Engineering Director, your main responsibility will be to carry out the 3D design of various mechanical projects, while respecting environmental constraints and client specifications. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Gathering and/or validating information to begin project design, including reading the RFQ and/or reviewing the quotation;
  • Participating in kickoff meetings for the projects assigned to you;
  • Taking site measurements when necessary;
  • Producing detail and assembly drawings for conveyor systems and mechanical parts;
  • Performing geometric dimensioning;
  • Developing and designing industrial machinery and equipment, including mechanisms, conveyors, and walkways;
  • Performing strength-of-materials calculations, including loads, stresses, and safety factors;
  • Ensuring that drawings comply with specifications and design data;
  • Working closely with the Technical Director to improve production release and implementation efficiency;
  • Preparing drawings for laser cutting and machining;
  • Preparing shop drawings for manufacturing in the plant;
  • Entering data into the Genius ERP system;
  • Participating in design reviews in collaboration with project managers;
  • Making modifications and corrections to drawings according to the specifications and requests of the engineering department or following corrective action taken on a specific part or component;
  • Performing any other tasks compatible with your duties.

Required qualification

  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in mechanical engineering technology or other relevant training;
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant design experience;
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks software;
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic concepts;
  • Good knowledge of production line equipment;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office;
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
