10 foolproof tips to grow your LinkedIn network

Want to have a prominent LinkedIn profile? Well, it is possible, just follow the following 10 tips.

In the article published on the Life Before 30 website, Ms. Elaina Giolando shares her tips to promote your profile and provides advice to bring traffic to your page.

Here is a summary :

1. Complete your profile

The best way to complete your LinkedIn profile is to transpose your resume information there and then add more details. It is essential to complete all fields (skills, languages spoken, universities attended, scholarships and diplomas received), and if applicable, provide a link to your professional website or blog.

When you send your cover letter and CV, insert a link to your LinkedIn page, the person responsible for hiring will have access to what cannot be found on your CV (references, photo, additional details, etc.).

2. Include a professional photo

To improve your chances of making a good first impression, it is best to hire a professional for your profile picture. The investment is worth it!

3. Create a full summary

The summary section should be at least two paragraphs long. In the first, it is important to outline your professional experience and skills. In the second, share your goals and ambitions. Add a last line to indicate if you want to be contacted and how.

4. Use keywords

To be tracked by employers and recruiters, include terms (keywords) that are relevant to your industry. This way, you will have a better chance of being contacted for an opportunity in your field.

5. Keep your profile up to date

Update your profile every two months. So you can add new skills and refresh your summary. With automatic notifications, your relationships will see the changes.

6. Ask for recommendations and endorsements

Ask 5 people (colleagues or former colleagues) to write you a short recommendation, to maximize your chances, you can offer to return the favor in exchange. When it comes to endorsements, approve of the skills of your connections, they'll be more likely to do so in return.

7. Follow the companies you like

This functionality will allow you to stay abreast of news, employment opportunities and discover the active employees of the company. You will be able to identify the people responsible for hiring and communicate with them directly.

8. Watch who is viewing your profile

It is possible to see who has viewed your profile from the option located in the right corner of your home page. The option can be deactivated so that you can browse anonymously, however, you will no longer be able to know who has visited your page.

9. Be active in groups

No matter what your interests, you will find various groups that you can chat about. By discussing these, you will develop a certain visibility that will allow you to have more visits to your page.

10. Get in touch with people

When your profile is complete, invite everyone you know to LinkedIn because you don't know who will be your next referral for a new job. Get in touch with recruiters and don't hesitate to contact them, they might find you your next job!
